He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Thrissur, MD in Internal Medicine from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, and DM in Cardiology from the prestigious Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute, Thiruvananthapuram. He also holds DNB certifications in General Medicine as well as Cardiology.

Dr. Vinod Thomas is a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (USA). He is also an International Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Cardiology. Additionally, he is a life member of the Cardiological Society of India.

He was awarded the prestigious Prof. G.K. Warrier Gold Medal for being the best outgoing MD postgraduate from Calicut University in 2001.

With more than 20 years of experience in Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Vinod Thomas has successfully performed over 20,000 interventional cardiology procedures. He specializes in complex multivessel angioplasties, including Laser Angioplasty, helping many patients avoid open-heart surgeries.

His special interests include:

• Percutaneous Valve Replacement (TAVI)
• Device closure of heart defects (ASD, VSD closure)
• Limb-saving angioplasties (PTA) for lower limb vascular disease
• Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) angioplasty
• Bifurcation angioplasty
• Rotational Atherectomy

Dr. Vinod Thomas is a faculty member at various national and international cardiology conferences and has several publications to his credit.

He is the past President of the Indian College of Cardiology, Kerala Chapter. He organized the National Conference of the Indian Society of Cardiology in 2024 and is the Organizing Secretary of the National Conference of the Indian College of Cardiology in 2026.
